Advertisements and celebrities go hand in hand. Sometimes they earn more for an advertisement shoot and endorsement of a product than they would earn for an entire movie.
The relevance for consumers like us is that when we see celebrities endorsing a new shampoo brand or a television. We tend to sit up and take notice and check it out. For example, I had never heard of Yep Me (a clothing brand) until Shahrukh Khan endorsed it and made me check the website. It turned out to be pretty decent site, which I would have never known of if Shahrukh had not endorsed it.
Brand that are already in the market need these advertisements to keep the interest of the consumers and keep up the competition. Point being brands need celebrities and celebrities need advertisements.
So this is why this particular ad just got me :)))!!!
Specially the end, where Virat Kohli asks the old lady in the ad what role should he enact while the advertisement was being made and she very matter-of-fact replies ;
“Tu apne game par dhyan de beta, ad shad nahi kiya kar!”
This just rings a chord with me and millions of other viewers , who are absolutely dying to tell the cricket stars this. We want to see them perform on the field and not on social media.
So yes Virat and the others…go do best, what we love you for! Just play cricket and leave acting to the actors.
When I see some of the popular actors doing advertisements, I feel some of them just don’t suit the product. Like if it was a quirky clotting ad, why hire Kangana? Why not take Govinda? He has most quirky dressing sense in the industry!I mean who else can dare to wear a magenta pink shirt with a bright yellow cotton pants and white shoes?
While on the topic of Kangana she could be great for ‘Learn English in a month’ advertisement . Imagine if she says,
I have been ridiculed many time for my diction and if you feel the same way join Blah-Blah classes today!!

I don’t understand why some brands pay so much to Shahrukh khan to endorse a product? They should just hire Sunny Leone for half his price and no matter what the product the men will sit up and take notice. Imagine Sunny Leone, recommending a razor . Any men here would not run to the store to pick one up?
When it comes to skin care and beauty why pick Katrina or Sonam? Show them pictures of Rekha who hasn’t aged a single day since she was in her thirties. Of course, we have no idea as to how many surgeries might have helped or is it a miracle of the natural products or yoga. That’s for her to know and you to decide. But most women/men would love to be in her shoes.
