Every Child Is Gifted- Horlicks Passion Paathshala
I read somewhere:
Every child is gifted. They just wrap their packages at different times.
As a parent and as a person who has been working in the parenting space over the years, I could not agree more. There was a time when my child was a 5-7-year-old I was dying to know what inherent talent my child has and he became my project. I would send him to multiple classes to figure out where his interest and talents lie. At one time he wanted to be a scientist, then a car designer and then an artist.
I learned how keeping up with the interests of kids can be quite a task. When I watched this video about Passion Paathshala workshop by Horlicks, I was reminded of my confusion.
It was India’s first-of-its-kind talent mentorship workshop where kids were exposed to a new talent and trained in it. The kids were trained in the fields of music, dance, karate, painting and the likes. The parents were not involved; rather, it was kept as a secret for the parents. So when the kids performed in front of their parents, they were pleasantly shocked and surprised. They had no idea that while their kid had been pursuing one activity and honing their skills around it, there lay a completely different and inherent talent in them which was shining with just a few days of training.
The final show in front of the parents made for an amazing moment. We need to remember that children are painting a tapestry every now and then. The scenes will keep changing. Don’t hold on to their first painting. Let them explore.
Let them poke it and not be afraid of trying out new things because you never know where life might take them. After all, the future lies in the hands of those who are able to question it.
